I have often wondered what to do with old CDs/DVDs. It didn't' seem right to throw them in the garbage, but they didn't seem to be suitable for any of my recycling categories either. Do you remember when AOL was sending disks in the mail to get people to try AOL? I send about 50 of them that I had collected. It was part of an effort called "No More AOL CDs": http://www.nomoreaolcds.com/. They collected over 400,000 CDs and sent them back to AOL, helping to convince AOL to stop distributing them.
